Dr. Vernon grew up in Macon, GA and became interested in pediatrics while watching his father (a local legend!) take care of children on a daily basis. Watching his father get swarmed by thankful families at the grocery store and the ballpark made him see the unique calling that lies in pediatric medicine.
After attending UGA & medical school at MCG in Augusta, GA, he and his wife Laura Lea moved to Charleston, SC where he trained at MUSC for internship and residency. They then moved to Columbus in 2019 where he worked at Piedmont Pediatrics for 2 years before “taking the reins” from Dr. Ross Macleod at West Georgia Pediatrics in the spring of 2021.
Outside of medicine and his obsession with patient care & the patient experience, he loves music, golf, & skiing. He plays drums on Sundays in the church worship band and loves spending time with his wife and 2 little girls.
Lauren was born and raised in Columbus, Ga. During her teen years, she was inspired by the nursing care given to her late grandfather and knew this was the profession she wanted to pursue.
She graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Columbus State University with a Master of Science in Nursing-Family Nurse Practitioner. Lauren is excited to provide education and compassionate care to young females while advocating for their physical and mental well-being.
When away from the office, Lauren enjoys traveling with her husband, Jayson, being actively involved in their church, and spending quality time with family and friends!
